A special matinee performance of Dutch National Ballet’s Nutcracker and the Mouse King will be broadcast live to cinemas across the UK and Ireland on Friday, December 30.
Choreographed by Wayne Eagling and Toer van Schayk, the ballet is set in an Amsterdam canal house, giving the ballet a Dutch twist. Skaters glide over the frozen canal outside, the living room turns into a snow-covered forest and the Nutcracker doll is mechanised. The cinema performance will star Dutch National Ballet principals Anna Tsygankova and Matthew Golding.
The performance will be screened in high definition, with surround sound, at range of cinemas nationwide, including Cineworld, Odeon and Showcase cinemas. Screenings start at 12.45 on Friday, December 30. For a list of participating cinemas, see www.het-ballet.nl/cinema.
