Thousands of people are expected to take part in Big Burn, a new mass participation fitness class. Strictly stars, Darcey Bussell and club DJs from Ministry of Sound are among the headline acts at the huge event, held at London’s Alexandra Palace on May 30 and 31.
Each fitness session is designed for up to 1,500 people. Darcey Bussell (pictured) will lead DD-Mix, which gives a flavour of many dance styles, from ballet to jive and Bollywood to Charleston. A session by FitSteps’ Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite, famous from Strictly, will combine ballroom and Latin with fitness techniques. Josie Gibson will lead workouts from her fitness DVD 21 Day Fat Burn. All routines have been choreographed to suit all levels of fitness.
Alongside the fitness sessions, Big Burn offers a health and fitness expo and event goodie bags. Launched this year, Big Burn aims to promote fitness with friendly, high-energy events and a festival atmosphere. Speaking of her routine, Darcey said: “I really enjoy working out when I am fully distracted by a fun routine, great music and the camaraderie of a group class. This is the core philosophy behind DD-Mix.” Visit www.bigburn.co.uk for tickets.
