bhangra-jhoom-launches-january-2013Early next year look out for the launch of Bhangra Jhoom!, a new dance workout inspired by bhangra – the energetic, vibrant folk dance of north India.

Shalini Bhalla, founder of Bollywood dance and fitness brand Just Jhoom!, has worked with her team to develop unique choreographed routines set to fast-paced bhangra tracks from blockbuster Bollywood films and new music composed by British Asian musicians. 

Shalini says: “We have devised Bhangra Jhoom! to give those looking for a tough work-out a real challenge. Not for the faint-hearted, this workout will get you sweating, burning fat, but keep you smiling! High impact and high intensity – using your lower and upper body – this is an all-over body workout that’s fast and furious.” 

When Just Jhoom! (which translates as “Just Dance”) launched in 2010, it became the UK’s first Bollywood dance-fitness class to gain accreditation from REPs

Bhalla and her team have now trained more than 200 instructors who are setting up classes nationwide and beyond – to India and the Czech Republic.

Nicola Rayner was editor of Dance Today from 2010 to 2015.
