Ballet West

Posted on June 3, 2017

Ballet West sits on a hill in the highlands of Scotland. Nestled into a forest, and overlooking the beautiful Loch Etive, the school attracts amazing teachers and produces award-winning dancers. The school offers a completely unique experience in the world of ballet, combining respected staff with a holistic attitude to the wellbeing of their students, all delivered within a small community.

The full-time HND and degree courses give a range of experiences that is broad in years one and two but allows specialisation in year three. Students can be prepared for RAD examinations up to Solo Seal level and participate in the Ballet West company tours of full-length ballets around Scotland and abroad.

Students work with professional choreographers who have a wealth of experience and contacts in the dance world. The size of the school enables the highly-trained staff to give intensive and tailored training. Resident staff are supported by a wide range of guest professionals who provide links with the performing arts industry. Students are enabled to become reflective practitioners, with a critical awareness of their work and the work of others.

Ballet West also offers summer courses, an outreach programme and two associate programmes in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
