Auditions for film musical

sunshine on leithAuditions for dancers will be held on Friday, May 10 for the film musical Sunshine on Leith. Directed by Dexter Fletcher, and produced by DNA Films and Black Camel Pictures, the film will star Peter Mullan and Jane Horrocks. The choreography will be by Arthur Pita.

 

Dancers are needed for the finale dance number, to the song “500 Miles” by The Proclaimers. The company are particularly looking for male dancers between the ages of 18 to 35, but are keen to see dancers of all ages, genders, sizes and ethnicities. The dance number will be in contemporary dance style.

 

Dancers will be required for three days’ rehearsal in Edinburgh on May 15 to 17, and between three to five days shooting the following week. This will be a paid role.

Zoë was born in Edinburgh, and saw her first dance performances at the Festival there. She is the dance critic of The Independent, and has also written for The Independent on Sunday, The Scotsman and Dancing Times. In 2002, she received her doctorate from the University of York for a thesis on “Nationhood and epic romance: Ariosto, Sidney, Spenser”. She is the author of The Royal Ballet: 75 Years and The Ballet Lover’s Companion.
