Northern Ballet will offer emerging choreographers the chance to work with its dancers and artistic director David Nixon in the company’s first Choreographic Laboratory.

British National Dance Championships 2014

The British National Dance Championships were held in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens from November 20 to 22.

2014 WDC World Professional Ballroom Championship

Arunas Bizokas and Katusha Demidova retained their title at the WDC World Professional Ballroom Championship, held at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens on November 23, 2014. Sadly, Victor Fung and his partner Anastasia Muravyeva had to withdraw, reportedly due to cramp.

Strictly speaking

Post-Blackpool week is traditionally a Strictly slump, and there was malaise in the form of Frankie enduring Viennese, Steve wincing through jive and Mark visibly relieved to survive tango. However, we also had the majestic return of Jake’s hips, Pixie’s jazz hands and Simon’s prospects.

Bishopsgate birthday!

Bishopsgate Institute celebrates its 120th birthday with a grand ball. When the London venue opened in 1894, it launched with a dance, which will be remembered in this 21st-century party.

Club Vertigo in Ealing this week!

Club Vertigo, a spectacular dance show starring Hanna Haarala (pictured), is in Ealing this week until Saturday. Using music, song, comedy and dance, it takes the audience to a New York rooftop cabaret for a tale of drama, passion and romance.

Manchester International Festival 2015

The first productions for 2015’s Manchester International Festival (MIF15) have been announced, including a new ballet by Wayne McGregor, starring Paris Opéra étoiles Aurélie Dupont, Marie-Agnès Gillot and Jérémie Bélingard.
