Cloud Dance Festival: Showtime

Now in its seventh year, Cloud Dance Festival returns this month, with a new programme of contemporary ballet and dance. Showtime, the first Cloud Dance Festival to be funded by Arts Council England, will be held at London’s Bernie Grant Arts Centre from November 15 to 17.

Spring with American Ballet Theatre

American Ballet Theatre (ABT) has announced its 2014 spring season at the Metropolitan Opera House, New York. Running from May 12 to July 5, it includes the company premiere of Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella, a Shakespeare celebration and a revival of Léonide Massine’s Gaîté Parisienne.

Cuban anniversaries

Cuba will soon celebrate two dance anniversaries. On October 28, it will be 65 years since the foundation of the Ballet Nacional de Cuba (BNC). On November 2, it will be the 70th anniversary of ballerina and company founder Alicia Alonso’s first performance of Giselle.
