Choreographer Hofesh Shechter has selected 20 dancers for the U.Dance Ensemble, a new UK-wide youth dance company. Shechter, the young company’s artistic director, chose the dancers from a national audition in December. All the dancers are aged between 16 and 21.
Akram Khan has had to withdraw from upcoming performances due to an injured Achilles tendon. Khan (pictured) was due to perform in his solo show DESH, currently touring worldwide. He is expected to make a full recovery, and looks forward to returning to DESH and his other works in due course.
The Point, Eastleigh is holding auditions for young dancers to join its Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) Satellite Centre scheme. Candidates should be aged between 10 and 14 years old.
Alesha Dixon is to leave “Strictly Come Dancing” after three seasons as a judge on the show to join ITV1’s “Britain’s Got Talent” later this year.
