Sergei Polunin, who so dramatically resigned from The Royal Ballet earlier this year, is to take the lead role in the UK premiere of Peter Schaufuss’ dance production of Midnight Express at the London Coliseum in April 2013.

The London Coliseum has announced its dance performances for spring and summer 2013. The programme includes visits from overseas companies the Mikhailovsky Ballet and Boston Ballet, plus seasons by Birmingham Royal Ballet and English National Ballet.

Gala tribute to Anna Pavlova
Anna Pavlova, one of the most famous ballerinas of the 20th century, will be celebrated in a gala at the London Coliseum on March 4. The gala marks 100 years since Pavlova moved to Ivy House, her London home, now the London Jewish Cultural Centre.

Russian stars in Diaghilev Festival at London Coliseum
Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes first danced in London in 1911. A hundred years on, the Diaghilev Festival at the London Coliseum presents three programmes of revivals and restagings of works from the Ballets Russes repertory. The season will be danced by Kremlin Ballet Theatre, with guest stars Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Ilze Liepa, Maria Alexandrova, Mikhail Lobukhin, Irma Nioradze and Ilya Kuznetsov.
