twitpicWeather and Wimbledon caught dance twitterers’ attention this week.

The Royal Ballet’s Federico Bonelli was hoping to watch the tennis live:

federicouk: Just joined the queue at Wimbledon... just 11979 people in front of me..! http://lockerz.com/s/114688412

He got in. Other dancers, such as “Strictly Come Dancing”’s Darren Bennett, were trying to keep up with the scores:

DB_Dance: How's Andy doing? I'm out and about and can't get the the results from Wimbledon.

Fellow "Strictly" star Ian Waite could tell him:

ianwaite: Heard @andy_murray won in 3 str/sets! Whoop! Whoop! Gutted to miss it, Zumba-ing this evening.

Choreographer Hofesh Shechter joined Twitter this week, and plunged straight into the tennis:

HofeshShechter: Long first day- most importantly trying to get home to see Nadal beating del potro!

He did find time to discuss his own work:

HofeshShechter: 5am start today and din't manage to do half what i wanted. too ambitious or too stupid... or both. will try earlier tomor see what happens..

HofeshShechter: Did the new clubbing bit. Shockingly exciting. Small thing- don't have a beginning yet. Small detail.

Choreographer and Rambert director has also been hard at work this week, creating his new work:

MarkPBaldwin: last touches of choreography to Seven For A Secret, Never To Be Told ..squuezing it out, such a reief to make something after 2 years break.

Rambert’s dancers, meanwhile, were performing al fresco outside St Paul’s Cathedral, a brave move in a week that went from heatwave to cloudburst:

MarkPBaldwin: Tues; London City St Pauls performances, 4 movements of Eternal Light today 1.30pm, 7.20pm. Thomsin Gulgec's last show with Rambert.. sob

Rambert reported the performance, and the weather:

Rambertdance: No rain so far... @CoLFestival from our dancer on the ground RT @JonGoddard Dum dum derrr! twitpic.com/5i22ps

Rambertdance: Spot the Rambert Dancer: http://twitpic.com/5i3srb

theballetbag:

(cont'd) Most mentioned were: Onegin (Stuttgart & RB), Vikharev reconstructions, Ratmansky (Bright Stream, LHHorse, Dnieper).. #DVDwishlist

... RB fans would love more MacMillan & Ashton short ballets while modern crowd wants Forsythe, Lightfoot Leon & Kylian #DVDwishlist

#DVDwishlist & to wrap up, companies most often mentioned in our poll: ABT, NYCB (Balanchine! Robbins!), RDB, Stuttgart, DNB, Mariinsky, RB

Other dance fans were watching the BBC Four documentary “The Incredible Thing About Contemporary Dance”:

LuPiquero: Note to people watching BBC4 Dance doc: Laban are not the only ones teaching choreology, and dance teachers aren't always that weird :P

Finally, American Ballet Theatre star José Manuel Carreño gave his farewell performance with the company. His colleagues were out in force to say goodbye:

Dance_Magazine: The Carreno farewell starts any minute. We've got Kent as Odette, Murphy as Odile, GUEST DE LUZ AS BENNO, & Hallberg as Rothbart! @ABTBallet

Twitterers in the audience reported:

TheNYGalavant: Watching & partaking in the 15+ min. standing ovation for Jose Manuel Carreno's final performance w/ @ABTBallet was truly special #nycliving
