a 1930s dance marathonAs part of the Greenwich Dances season, choreographer Arthur Pita’s Open Heart Productions will stage a 100-hour dance marathon, running from June 3 to 7.

helden-by-charlestandyTerence Kohler’s new ballet Helden (Heroes) turns the myth of Prometheus, who stole fire from the gods, into an allegory of modern technology. Appropriately enough, this work will itself be streamed online.

riteofspringprivatecollectionrogerviolletparisbridgemanartlibraryTamara Nijinsky, the 93-year-old daughter of Vaslav and Romola Nijinsky, is to receive legal recognition for her father’s celebrated ballet, The Rite of Spring, at the centenary performance in Paris this month.

A Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of Phrosso Pfister, dance teacher and educator, will be held at St Paul’s Church, Bedford Street, Covent Garden, London WC2E 9ED at 12 noon on Thursday, July 4, 2013.

Victoria Marr, first soloist with Birmingham Royal Ballet, will be dancing her very last performance with the company, as Myrtha, Queen of the Wilis in Giselle, at Birmingham Hippodrome in June.

Dancing Times Ltd is the publisher of two independently produced specialist dance magazines, Dancing Times and Dance Today. In continuous production since 1910, the company is looking for a permanent, full-time Financial Director, educated to First Degree level and who is a fully qualified member in one of the professional accounting bodies (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA), to provide financial management and overall general management direction.

sunshine on leithAuditions for dancers will be held on Friday, May 10 for the film musical Sunshine on Leith. Directed by Dexter Fletcher, and produced by DNA Films and Black Camel Pictures, the film will star Peter Mullan and Jane Horrocks. The choreography will be by Arthur Pita.

cojocaru-24-preludes-frederika-davisSince 2008, ballerina Alina Cojocaru (pictured) has been raising funds for the Bucharest Hospice Appeal, holding galas for Hospices of Hope. She returns to Sadler’s Wells on Sunday, May 12, with a varied repertory and plenty of starry friends.
