Getting in a tangle with your tango? Feel your samba's not up to scratch? In the May issue of Dance Today, Strictly champs Darren Bennett and Lilia Kopylova will be running a dance clinic.

nda logoThe Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards for 2012 were held at The Place on Monday, January 28. Hosted by Gary Avis of The Royal Ballet and KennethTharp of The Place, the awards celebrated a broad spread of dance performances in Britain, from hip hop – with a spectacular double win for ZooNation – to narrative ballet. Tharp and Avis opened with a touch of showbiz, dancing on with a flourish. This year’s awards were dedicated to the memory of critics John Percival, Charles Hedges and Freda Pitt.

French-Canadian dance troupe, Le Patin Libre, will be dancing on ice – but not as we know it – at London’s Alexandra Palace on January 20, 2013.

Samory Ba tells me: “Our dancers are all ex-traditional figure skaters who, with the help of the Canadian Council for the Arts and other artistic institutions, turned their athletic virtuosity into a legitimate means of cultural expression.
