The Russian newspaper Izvestia has published an interview with Vera Dorofeeva, who has been replaced by Nikolai Tsiskaridze as Rector of the Vaganova Academy.
Russian culture minister Vladimir Medinsky has announced that Nikolai Tsiskaridze is to be appointed rector of the Vaganova Academy, St Petersburg’s leading ballet school. Maryinsky ballerina Uliana Lopatkina will succeed Altynai Asylmuratova as the school’s artistic director, combining the new role with her stage career. The current rector, Vera Dorofeeva, will be offered a new job. The minister indicated that Tsiskaridze will decide Asylmuratova’s future at the Academy.
People will be spoilt for choice with on-screen performances of The Nutcracker over the Christmas period.
The dance programme for this year’s Edinburgh International Festival will include the Maryinsky Ballet (pictured), Angelin Preljocaj’s company, Deborah Colker Dance Company, Juillard Dance and more.
