From hip hop to basketball:

Tuesday, 07 June 2011

Voices in the Alleyway, a new hip hop drama, opens at London’s Cochrane Theatre this week. The show mixes contemporary dance theatre with basketball freestyle.

Directed and choreographed by Cindy Claes, Voices in the Alleyway tells the story of basketball-obsessed TJ and Badda. Claes explains, “In an era where many search for purpose, where we sometimes question what makes us so special and unique, this show demonstrates why each individual has no other choice but to shine.”

The project is a collaboration between FAITH Drama Productions and hip hop/physical theatre company Spread Expression. Kenrick ‘H2O’ Sandy, of Olivier award-wining Boy Blue Entertainment, was basketball freestyle consultant for the project.

Voices In The Alleyway is at the Cochrane Theatre from June 8–12. Contact 020 7269 1606 for tickets.
