A dance image a day…:

web_a-little-girl-swings-4779Forty-five days ago, 100 days before Big Dance Week 2012, July 7–15, Dance Today photographer Carole Edrich decided to mark the countdown to this, the largest dance event in the world, by posting a different dance-related photo a day on her blog (http://dancetog.com/).

Carole will be sharing one image a week with Dance Today. This week’s image is Swing It Baby, taken at Greenwich Dance Festival last year.

Carole says: “I’m passionate about dance and about photography. I love learning new dances, photographing new dances, and finding solutions to the challenges that go with these passions. I’ve started the blog to share as many aspects of dance and dance photography as possible with as many people as possible, and will do this by posting at least one new image every day all the way to the end of the Olympics.

“‘Tog’ is a commonly accepted way of shortening ‘photographer’ on Twitter and that’s how http://dancetog.com/ was born. My Twitter ID @CE_Images does more than link to my new dance blog posts, including a small number of retweets of photographic and dance-related events that I think are worth repeating, links to other places I post images and occasionally other peoples’ images too.

“Along with the images, which I hope people will like for themselves, I plan to talk about the challenges I experience as a dance photographer, about what I and other people think does (and doesn’t) make a good dance image, about how the worlds of dance, publishing and photography combine and maybe about the technology that gives me the ability to combine these two passions. I want my words to be relevant and interesting to dancers, photographers and casual browsers, so it’s a scary task.

“If you have ideas or suggestions of things I might cover, are interested in an aspect of dance photography or would like me to come and photograph your class, group, friends or troupe please get in touch.”
